6 Reasons Why Winter Babies are the Best!

6 Reasons Why Winter Babies are the Best!

Any pregnant mama knows it doesn’t really matter the season; becoming a parent is a miracle whenever it happens. That being said, if you’re expecting this January (or beyond!) you may have heard that winter is the toughest time for having a newborn. After all, life with a newborn is anything but predictable…and the snow, sleet and shorter days can definitely complicate things! Still, we’re here to prove those naysayers wrong. Winter’s a great time to give birth, and we’ve got six reasons why. So start getting ready—you’re going to LOVE becoming a parent in the next few months.

It’s the Best time to Snuggle Up With Baby

Luckily, you’re expecting a baby during the season when no one expects you to do much. The first few months of motherhood can be tough—there’s no denying that. Between dealing with sleepless nights and getting the hang of nursing, it can certainly be a journey! Go easy on yourself—if you can’t make it out of the house, it’s completely acceptable (particularly with a foot of snow on the ground). Take advantage of snuggle time while you can—it won’t last forever!

Mama’s Clothes are So Cozy (and Forgiving!)

Let’s be honest—no one’s squeezing back into their pre-pregnancy jeans a few weeks after giving birth. You just grew a human, after all! And winter’s the best time to give yourself a break. Slip into some leggings and a warm sweater, throw on your Covered Goods® nursing cover as a scarf, and you’ll be good to go for months.

The Photo Ops are So Much Fun

We’re so in love with all the newborn photos you all post on social media (keep them coming mamas!), and winter’s the best time to make those pics extra adorable. We’re imaging a Valentine’s-themed photo shoot, or something with cozy blankets (you can even use your Covered Goods® breastfeeding cover as a prop!). Either way, you’ll have a pretty precious memory of baby’s first few weeks.

Spring Weather is on the Horizon

Yes, you may be looking at icy sidewalks and streets now, but it’s only a short time until those glorious months of spring. And by the time April hits, baby will be old enough to start doing a lot of fun things! So sit back and think about relaxing with her on a blanket in the park, or taking a leisurely walk and enjoying everything that blooms. It will be here before you know it.

It’s Easy to Keep Baby Cozy!

There are so many new baby essentials on the market, it’s easier than ever to keep baby cozy. If you haven’t invested in one of our multi-use nursing covers yet, now’s the time. Each Covered Goods® is more than just a breastfeeding cover—it’s also a car seat cover, shopping cart cover, and infinity scarf. Our customers even use our covers as a lightweight blanket.

If you’re heading out in the car or stroller, use your Covered Goods® nursing cover as a stretchy car seat cover—it will give baby an extra layer of protection against the elements (yes, even snow!). Combined with a few soft blankets, your little little one will be snug as a bug. BONUS: living with a newborn this winter? We’ve done the research for you. The Temperatures are Perfect

Before you roll your eyes on this one, think about how much more comfortable the last few weeks of pregnancy are without the scorching heat of summer. Plus, once baby arrives, breastfeeding is sooo much less sweaty. Newborns generate heat, and you’ll probably appreciate that snuggly bundle of warmth when it’s cold outside! Use your nursing cover up to cozy up with baby, turn on a cute movie, and enjoy the moment—they pass too quickly!

Winter is a wonderful time of year to have babies! My first December, my second end of October and third in march. I have to say winter was a wonderful time for many reasons. First I loved be staying home taking my time breastfeeding on demand with no where to be. I loved the holidays were close which gave me something to look forward to or the excuse of having a new baby to have family come to you. I loved that by spring and summer my baby had so much personality and we could enjoy the nice weather will feedings spread out. I loved nursing in cozy clothing and not Sweating nursing a tiny baby very often in the heat, with older siblings wanting to play outside my march baby and I were forced to sweat and nurse in the heat. Ugh not a favorite!! Although my covered goods nursing cover was so light weight and a huge blessing. These are just my top reasons and end of fall winter babynis wonderful. Nursing in 80-90 degree weather is not enjoyable with an infant.
